The Supply Chain Officer is responsible for implementing approved policies and procedures related to logistical and procurement activities in support of the company’s operations.
Main Job Duties
Evaluate and process procurement requests received as directed to meet user requirements in the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) (strict adherence/compliance to SOP)internal procedures (damaged goods, expiry dates etc.)
Develop and maintain a database of suppliers
Keep communication with suppliers constant to ensure timely delivery of goods
Undertake comprehensive due diligence on all suppliers and potential suppliers to ensure compliance with applicable laws and company policies
Develop and maintain positive business relationships with suppliers
Liaise with the Warehouse sections to prepare and report on stock levels to the Distribution Manager
Liaise with Transport Officer to ensure received goods are transported to the appropriate locations under good conditions at all times.
Maintain contact with requestor departments and communicate status of goods requested to them
Exhausts all avenues on requisitions received to satisfy the needs of the customer
Exercise due diligence in order placements by tracking product run rates and reconciling physical stock with the system to verify needs
Coordinate returns of products to suppliers
Work closely with the finance office to ensure prompt payments to suppliers to accelerate procurement
Generate re-order levels for products to guide in order planning
Liaise with branches on special orders for external customers
Make copies of purchase orders available to warehouses to confirm orders made at the point of delivery
Performs any other duties as change may require

A good First Degree in Logistics & Supply Chain or any related field with a minimum of 3 years relevant work experience
