Key Accounts Manager

The Key Accounts Manager will be the focal point of contact for all key account matters, anticipate the client’s needs, work within the department to ensure deadlines for clients are met, and help the customers succeed. Meet clients face to face to provide education and promote the business through presentations and other account analysis. Proactively contact clients to maintain a consistent high level of service delivery, whilst identifying further new business opportunities by developing new relationships with potential clients.

 

Main Job Duties

  1. Monitor the day to day commercial performance of each account within a portfolio
  2. Supervise the activities of Medical Sales Representatives to ensure lead generation.
  3. Liaise regularly with existing clients to develop an intimate understanding of the client’s needs and to identify new business opportunities
  4. Achieve Sales Targets
  5. Identify key influencers and decision-makers within account and develop an action plan to deepen the relationship with this audience, drawing on senior level support where appropriate.
  6. Identify and develop innovative solutions to offer clients to lead the business to improve and extend the department’s current services.
  7. Work with the Sales Team to prepare tailored strategic plans, encompassing sales, marketing and pricing activities to maximise opportunities and value for both parties
  8. Monitor performance of strategic plans and evaluate successes, risks and opportunities and formulate plans to address these.
  9. Upkeep of electronic records using cloud-based technology (drop box)
  10. Provide detailed information and reports to the Sales Manager and HOD as and when required
  11. Submit daily call reports to Sales Manager and HOD
  12. Carry out analysis and produce reports on a monthly and as and when required basis
  13. Daily liaison with other members of the team to provide information and ensure that customers receive excellent customer service and suppliers provide consistent services
  14. Advising on changes and trends in the marketplace and the activities of competitors
  15. Manage interactions with customers
  16. Identify and grow new tender businesses to ensure the company has a large market share in institutional tender business.
  17. Register company interest, attend tender information sessions, develop tender response strategy, follow all other requirements of the tender and check and submit the bid.
  18. Demonstrate high ethical and professional standards with all business contacts to maintain excellent reputation.
  19.  Maintain the revenue and gross profit of each account ensuring they remain profitable in line with annual targets, exhausting all additional revenue opportunities.
  20. Perform all other jobs appropriately assigned by management

 

Skills & Competency Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience with MS Word, MS Excel and related programs
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, solve problems, manage and meet deadlines and maintain a high quality of work.
  • Possess a personal presentation that reflects a professional image and the values of the organization.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy.
  • A flexible, pro-active approach to work including the ability to prioritise and re-prioritise to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Proven ability to operate in a matrix environment and work effectively with sales management, customers and across geographic and organizational boundaries.
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) at all levels in an organization and with diverse groups.

  • Good follow up/ follow-through skills
  • Flexible hours are provided and required, including weekend work, evenings and overnight/travel up to 60%.

Educational and Professional qualification

  • A Good First Degree in BSc. Sales & Marketing or Pharmaceuticals with extensive experience in pharmaceutical sales or any other related field, A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Commercial or institutional Sales management
